From the same creative vision as 2002 acclaimed City of God we have City of Men (Cidade dos Homens). I am Chilly Coldblud and these are my Deepthoughts…
What does Chilli Think of City of Men?
CITY OF MEN!!! The word that comes from the outreaches of space, beyond the reaches of names, beyond the echoes of thought directly to me to describe this slice of cinematic history is REAL! DIG IT! REAL! The grittiness of the photography places you directly into the favala’s of Rio. The REAL Rio, nothing like the robot race on those born into a resort. In simple ground-mind terms “I enjoyed it”. The movie continues the story of Acerola and Laranjinha childhood friends from the Brazilian series “City of Men”. A lot of movie watchers might think this is a sequel to City of God but its not. But you’re not too far off. This story began with the series, one I can describe as The Wonder Years meets Menace to Society. If you get a chance check that out too. The story is compelling, the acting is memorable, and the photography is crisp. It is subtitled but there is nothing wrong with reading. Feed your brain. I give it 4 1/2 out of 5 funky monkeys.
You figure it out.
